FAQ

What should I wear? What is the dress code?

There are three different events that you should prepare for; The Welcome Party, The Wedding, and The Brunch. Each of these events require a different dress-code.

The Welcome Party: The rehearsal dinner dress-code is evening chic. This means elegant, sophisticated, and appropriate for evening events or upscale occasions. EX: formal yet contemporary, classic silhouettes, and sophisticated accessories.

The Wedding Day: The Wedding Day is Black-tie with a a strictly enforced all black dress code. This means ball gowns or tuxedos (white or black shirts are allowed) with elegant and sophisticated accessories. Appropriate for upscale events, such as galas, weddings, or formal dinners. EX: formal elegance, attention to detail, classic.

The Brunch: The Brunch is garden chic. This means effortlessly combining the refinement of formal dressing with the laid-back charm of outdoor settings EX: effortless sophistication, versatile fabrics, chic footwear. (men can wear jeans, however NO t-shirts, baseball caps, or ripped jeans)

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Temperature: The average daytime temperatures in September range from around 61°F to 72°F. However, temperatures can vary throughout the month, with warmer days early in September gradually giving way to cooler temperatures toward the end of the month.

Sunshine: September sees a decrease in the number of daylight hours compared to the summer months, but you can still expect a fair amount of sunshine. On average, Paris receives about 6 to 7 hours of sunshine per day in September.

While September is generally drier than the preceding summer months, occasional rainfall is still possible. Be prepared for scattered showers or light rain showers, particularly in the early part of the month.

Given the mild temperatures and potential for occasional rain, it's advisable to pack a mix of lightweight layers and waterproof outerwear when visiting Paris in September. Bring comfortable walking shoes for exploring the city on foot.

Overall, September is a pleasant time to visit Paris, with comfortable temperatures, manageable crowds, and the added bonus of cultural events and festivals happening throughout the city. Just be prepared for some variability in weather conditions and pack accordingly for a versatile wardrobe.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be held outside, while the reception will be both indoors and outdoors.

Can I wear a white shirt with my tuxedo?

Yes. Although there is a strict, all black dress code, a white or black button down shirt with a collar is appropriate.

How do I get to the venue?

Getting to the venue is quite simple. We would not recommend driving as Paris is not the easiest of cities to navigate. Using the same app you would use back home, you can call an Uber to any of the event locations. We will provide exact addresses and drop-off locations that you can easily input into the app or tell the taxi driver.

Another app that you can download as a back-up would be: Bolt. Bolt is similar to Uber.

Are kids welcome?

While we love your bundles of joy, the wedding festivities are adult only. If your children are accompanying you to Paris, we are happy to provide recommendations for childcare.

Will food & drinks be served at the reception? Are there options for dietary restrictions?

Upon arrival to the hotel, you will be greeted with a glass of champagne. After the reception, there will be a cocktail hour where bites will be passed throughout the space. After the reception, you will settle into a 4-course gourmet dinner.

If you have any food allergies, restrictions, or diet restrictions please do let us know when you RSVP. This information is essential as we have to notify the catering company to ensure that you are properly served and your restrictions are respected.

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

No. There is a STRICT no photo sharing policy throughout all three events. You can take a photo of Paris, but no photos of Jennifer or Christian, nor the decor/set-up of ANY event. We will inform you when you can post photos of the details of the events.

What if I want to get my hair and make-up done professionally for the events?

There are many talented hairstylists and make-up artists in Paris, please contact the wedding planners to book your hair and make-up session.

Where can I get my nails done? Is there a good barber?

For nails: Insitute Fahi - 34 Rue de Ponthieu A 01, 75008 Paris

For a barber: Gentleman 1919 - 11 rue Jean Mermoz 75008 Paris

What do I do if I need to steam/iron my clothes?

If you are staying at a Palace or 5-Star hotel, the hotel will be able to steam or iron your clothes (for a fee). Please ask your concierge to recommend a local pressing shop where you can have your garments steamed.

I still have questions, what is the best way to contact you?

Please contact our wedding planners if you have any other questions or hesitations. They are here to help with anything that may occur.

Practical Travel Essentials

Passport

American citizens visiting France for under 90 days DON'T require a visa. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return date and has a blank page for entry stamps.

Tip: Keep hard copies of your passport in your accommodation in case of loss.

Currency

France is a member of the European Union and uses the euro (€) as its national currency. There are seven notes in circulation, available in denominations of €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 (rare) and €500 (rare). There are also eight coins in circulation in denominations of €1 and €2, then one, two, five, 10, 20 and 50 cents.

Merchants will NOT take USD in France, so if you plan to use cash, please exchange USD at your bank prior to coming. The exchange rates you will get at the money exchange places will not be great. An alternative is to use your ATM card to get Euros out. Most travel cards no longer charge a fee for this service.

To find the current exchange rate for the euro, go to www.xe.com

Travel Pro Tip: Download the XE app to your phone so you can easily convert euros to dollars while shopping in Paris.

Mobile Device Usage

Check with your mobile phone carrier to find out if there are extra costs associated with using your phone in Paris. AT&T offers an International Day Pass for $10/day which covers unlimited talk and text. Most others such as Verizon or T-Mobile will. have similar plans.

Generally, hotels will offer free WIFI and there's WIFI throughout the city and at most stores, bars, and restaurants. However, be prepared to use a lot of your own data when walking around Paris so confirm that your current plan is adequate.

Media Entertainment

Most hotel rooms will have a TV, but generally, CNN or NBCFN are the only channels in English. And those are recorded and played on a loop.

Your Netflix and other streaming services (Amazon Prime Video) are accessible from France but you may not see your usual shows as a lot of content is not legally allowed to be shown in Europe. A way around this is to get a VPN. ExpressVPN is amazing and allows you to watch all your US content while in Europe.

As well, you can download content before you leave the US and you will still be able to watch it on the plane and in Europe.

Not that you will be watching much TV anyway.

Travel Pro Tip: Get a portable charger. This handy gadget ensures that you don't have to worry about your mobile phone running out of juice while you're out and about. Just remember to charge it back up at the end of the day.

Electricity

You also need an electrical outlet adapter because electrical outlets in Paris are 220v while US devices are 110v. So the shape of the plug is different. You can easily find adapters on Amazon:

https://tinyurl.com/3mm4u5m8

Your hair dryers and curling irons will NOT work in Europe - as the voltage is too high. So you will melt your devices if you use them in France. UNLESS your appliances are dual voltage (110 and 220). You should be able to find this information somewhere on the plug.

Apple or Android products are global and are dual voltage.

Convenient Apps to Download

Be sure to install these apps on your mobile phone before leaving the US.

Uber
Xe Currency Converter
GoogleMaps - It tells you how to easily get around Paris from location A to B. Exactly what subways to take, where to get off.
Google Translate - You can say what you want in English and the app tells you how to say it in French
Duolingo - If you want to start learning and practicing French ... Duolingo is the perfect place to start. Just 15 mins a day.
